I believe the majority of us are more or less blind. If not yet in this world of television, computer screens, Nintendo DS and mobile phones we will eventually have an impaired vision. I have roughly calculated how much in the last 10 years I have spent on my vision, from glasses and doctor appointments to contact lenses, their containers and solution and it is a lot! I was used to paying £20 for a pair of monthly contacts until I discovered that you can buy contact lenses online much cheaper and without a prescription!
Best Contact Lenses
As I mentioned I have more than 10 years of experience in contact lenses and I have personally tried and been recommended a wide variety of lenses by my optician. Best 1 month lenses by far are Biofinity lenses. I do not even take them out when I go to bed and you know that horrible feeling in the morning when you have to open your eyes and they are absolutely dry? Well these are the contact lenses which do not give you this feeling! CooperVision’s Biofinity is made from the breakthrough Aquaform material. This silicone hydrogel technology allows greater levels of oxygen (up to 5 times according to the manufacturer) to freely flow through the lens to the eye and encourages natural wettability. Biofinity are created for monthly usage and you can have them on continuous wear for up to 28 days! But I personally recommend to take them out and soak in a lenses contained with a solution at least once a week for a fresher feeling.
Prices
Well this is usually the most important bit as money matters. I have used around 5 different contact lenses websites. Some are cheaper but charge a lot for delivery, some charge you less but you have to wait a month for a delivery. Others charge you a lot (almost same price as buying directly from the optician) but offer fast delivery. Overall, the best website to get your lenses by far is VisionDirect.co.uk. They offer FREE delivery, one of the lowest prices on the whole market and excellent customer service! 3 pairs of Biofinity currently stand at £27 – delivered! or 6 pairs (6 month supply) can be purchased for only £51 with free delivery. That’s just £8.50 per month! Oh and if you never used VisionDirect before, click this link to get started ;)
Sensitive Eyes? Or never had contact lenses before?
If you never had contact lenses before or if your eyes are sensitive, we recommend start using daily disposable lenses. You put a pair in the morning and just throw them away before you go to sleep. These lenses are more hygienic, comfortable, but also cost much more compared to Monthly ones, so we recommend to use them occasionally. In terms of brand, go for Ciba Vision – Focus Dailies ‘All Day Comfort’ (£28 for 30 pairs / £69 for 90 pairs) or CooperVision – Proclear 1 Day (£28 for 30 pairs / £62 for 90 pairs) – these lenses are market leading and trusted by a number of people.
Where to get the containers and solution for contact lenses?
I just generally get mine on eBay. Just type in “contact lenses container” and “contact lenses solution” and you will see the best results. The prices are at least half cheaper comparing to any pharmacy or store selling this. For better quality I recommend Bausch and Lomb products, but any “All in One” solution will do the work! The more you buy in a bulk the cheaper they get.
Hi.
Another site offering free delivery is lensesavers. They also sell colour lenses and a range of solutions. I’ve found them reliable and on the whole cheaper than other Internet sites.
