£1 shops are a part of the culture in the United Kingdom. They obviously do not look very fancy and the most of the stuff that is sold there you probably don’t even need. However, if I were you I would at least visit one of them. I think you might find some great deals, especially the ones that appear occasionally.
Some people are buying stuff like mad in these shops and I understand them since everything for £1 is quite an irresistible seduction. However, the majority of us do not even notice that you can get the same good at Tesco or Wilkinsons for 99p. And this is exactly how they make money.
Anyways I sometimes visit those shops myself and I don’t think that there is anything wrong with that. If everywhere they can Pound shops would put 1p margin, they just would not survive. However, the actual secret to their success that the actual variety is distinctive and you probably will not even be able to get those things anywhere else.
The list of things that we sometimes buy in £1 shops
- Girly things (make up wipes, shower gel, shampoo – you can get some great brands such as TRESemmé, Palmolive, Simple)
- Kitchen stuff (glass chopping boards, storage jars)
- Home goods (candles, colourful bin liners, toilet paper, energy saving light bulbs)
I buy all of those things in £1 shops because the offers are great combination of quality and price. I don’t get just anything what is sold there.
There are two £1 shops in the UK:
What is pound stretcher?
It is not the same as PoundWorld or Poundland. Pound stretcher is a little bit better looking kind of store, selling stuff which is cheap but is considerably good. Even though it has a similar title, it is not only £1 stuff you can get there. It is a very good shop for any home goods you need. Especially when you are moving in and you need some basic kitchen or other home utilities. PoundStretcher has a great product variety and the quality is normal.
It is a type of DIY (Do It Yourself) store since you can get attributes to your garden, bedroom, living room, kitchen, car and even some toys for your kids.
